Without warning, the door creaked open, revealing a dimly lit chamber filled with vibrant hues. As they stepped inside, the door slammed shut behind them, engulfing them in darkness.
Panic gripped the children until a faint glow emanated from the centre of the room, revealing a pedestal adorned with the same mysterious symbol. Atop it rested a glittering gemstone pulsating with an otherworldly radiance.
“The hidden treasure!” Rohan exclaimed; his eyes wide with disbelief.
The Riddles and Challenges
As they inched closer, a booming voice echoed through the chamber, “Only those pure of heart and respectful of ancient traditions may claim this sacred relic.”
The children froze, their hearts pounding in their chests. Suddenly, the gemstone flashed, and a series of riddles appeared on the walls, their words dancing like flames.
The first riddle read: “I am the essence of Holi, a vibrant array, yet my colours fade at the end of the day. What am I?”
Priya’s eyes lit up. “The gulal powders! They are temporary, just like the festival itself.”
As she spoke the answer, a portion of the floor opened, revealing a treacherous pit. Arjun quickly grabbed a loose plank, and they used it to cross the gap, their hearts racing.
The next riddle materialised: “I am the source of Holi’s joy, a symbol of unity to be shared by every girl and boy. What am I?”
Rohan pondered for a moment before exclaiming, “The knowledge that our faith in God will help us cross any path.”
With his answer, the walls began to shift, and a narrow passage appeared, leading them deeper into the chamber.
As they ventured forth, a new riddle emerged: “I am the heart of Holi’s traditions, passed down through generations. My essence is eternal, a flame that never fades. What am I?”
