So, you know when you plant a tiny seed in the ground, and after some time, a little plant pops up? That’s because the seed has everything it needs inside it to start growing a new plant!
First, the seed needs to be in the right place, like in some good soil. Then, it needs water. When you water the seed, it starts to wake up and grow. This is called “germination.”
The little plant, or “seedling,” then pushes up through the soil towards the sunlight. Plants need sunlight because they use it to make their food in a process called “photosynthesis.” They also take in water and nutrients from the soil through their roots.
As the plant gets more sunlight, water, and nutrients, it grows bigger and stronger. Some plants might grow flowers or fruits, and these fruits might have seeds inside them for new plants to grow. And that’s how plants grow!
